The merger of two very traditional winery cooperatives in Burggrafenamt, the Burggräfler Winery and the Merano Winery, gave rise to the new Merano Winery in July 2010. After almost a year and a half of construction, the new seat in Marlengo was ceremoniously inaugurated at the beginning of June 2013. Architect Werner Tscholl is to thank for Merano Winery’s new architectural signature. During further stages of construction, careful optimisation of space and the preservation and conservation of the antiquities were prioritised.
This panoramic enoteca (literally: wine depository) is the new centrepiece of the Merano Winery. Oak and glass façades are the defining elements of its architecture affording a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Merano valley basin, the Adige valley and the surrounding vineyards. The panoramic enoteca is a must for all those who love architecture, design and wine. A guided tour of the cellar is highly recommended, as it provides an insight into the extraordinarily designed cellar rooms with their different worlds of colour.
