Hotel Weingut Pacherhof****

Passed down from one generation to the next, this beautiful farm has remained in the family since the 11th century. Pacherhof was mentioned in documents even before the founding of the nearby Neustift Abbey. In 1849, one of the four daughters of the farm owner at that time, Andreas Pacher, married the well-known Eisack Valley winemaker and wine pioneer, Josef Huber. From then on, and to this day, the Hubers have been kind hosts and passionate vintners.

The rustic, wood-panelled parlour with its benches and tables made of classic solid wood is one of the oldest in South Tyrol. Located directly below it is just one of the wine cellars. During the autumn, when the grapes are harvested and then processed in this cellar, you can literally smell the new wine in the parlour.

Andreas Huber is responsible for the Pacherhof Winery, whilst his sister Monika Huber and her family welcome guests to historic Hotel Pacherhof. Pacherhof is known and loved by both holidaymakers and the local community as an establishment with much history and tradition, seen and felt throughout. The informal atmosphere is so pleasantly friendly you'll always want to come back here.

Delicate delicious regional specialties with Mediterranean influences define the excellent cuisine. Guests absolutely love the comfort they feel in the four wood-panelled parlours or on the terrace, and the warm hospitality extended by the Pacherhof team. In autumn, Törggelen (new wines, roasted chestnuts and more) is popular with holidaymakers and South Tyroleans alike; a free spot is hard to come by.

Winemaker Andreas puts his heart and soul into his wines. The sensational Kerner, which accounts for about a third of the farm's wine production, is always very scarce.

Each of the seven completely different wine cellars in Pacherhof is worth a visit. The old, heritage-listed cellars present a striking contrast to the new, ultra-modern wine cellars. Old meets new, creating a s flowing symbiosis. Tantalising wine tastings in the modern tasting room or in the middle of the romantic vineyards make for special wine moments. The wine itself reveals its compelling history: the taste of its terroir’s uniqueness and makes the connection between the winemaker and the grape felt.

On frosty spring nights, you can experience a very special spectacle in the Pacherhof vineyard; hundreds of frost candles spread out across the rows of vines are lit to protect the grapes from frost and thus safeguarding the harvest. A goosebump event! Of course, the hotel guests are always close at hand, rooting for the harvest.
