Hotel My Matillhof****S

The oldest part of Matillhof, originally a small farmhouse that gives the hotel its name today, is over 900 years old. Thus, veritably making it the oldest house still in existence in Laces, and by the same token, has a historic wine cellar that is just as old. In the adjoining, airy and very sunny vineyard, local wine varieties such as Fraueler and Portugieser were cultivated by Grandpa Albert Dietl until the 1970s.

This very vineyard experienced a renaissance in 2020. Hansjörg Dietl and his daughter Johanna regenerated the vineyard by planting Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Grigio.
The first bottling is expected in 2022.

The names Schlössl or Castelletto, derived from the German and Italian words for miniature castle, respectively, refer to the romantic, historical part of the hotel. Schlössl with its extraordinary uniqueness and can be exclusively booked by those who want to immerse themselves in a bygone age within these historic walls.

Even in Matillhof's oldest wing, traditional charm and contemporary simplicity have been harmoniously combined leaving no wishes unfulfilled. For once, live like a prince and princess in your own luxury suite with a four-poster bed and double wooden bathtub.

From Schlössl you can access a treasure trove, here for all wine enthusiasts, a 900-year-old wine cellar housing exquisite wines, true rarities and even little "wine gems".

Every week, guests have the pleasure of a first-class wine tasting with the host, which occasionally last until the early hours of the morning. Wine brings people together, sparks interesting conversations and in this rustically quaint cellar, wine-loving friendships have already arisen. By the way, Hansjörg, your wine-passionate host considers this special spot to be his absolute favourite.

In terms of cuisine, Hotel Matillhof has a very special feature - fruit and vegetables sourced from local organic fields. According to the highly motivated and creative kitchen team, returning to the origins and to nature is the name of the game. Light Mediterranean dishes with elements of South Tyrolean culinary classics indulge and delight guests. Vegan and vegetarian or alkaline dishes augment this culinary offer with many products from the hotel’s own farm. The dishes are enhanced with aromatic herbs, wild plants, flowers, and the age-old wisdom of the power of nature.

Relax in the wonderful spa area with its beautiful pool, spacious oases of tranquillity and its spa treatments centred around the theme of wine, such as the wine-well-being offer of a grape pomace bath.  The beauty range comprises the South Tyrolean Aqua-Vinea-Nobilis skincare line, which uses water from the biodynamically cultivated vineyards of Manincor, also known as tears of the vine.
