Embedded in South Tyrol's largest nature park, the Texel Group, next to the idyllic village of Partschins, a loud thundering work of natural architecture is to be found: the Partschins Waterfall. At 1,110 m above sea level, the masses of water shoot out over a free-standing rock face and plunge into the depths. With a 97m drop, the largest waterfall in the region carries up to 10,000 litres of water per second at maximum yield. On sunny days between ten o'clock and midday, the fine spray glistens in every possible shade of the rainbow. As it searches for a way down into the valley, the watercourse leaves behind a unique microclimate with an added benefit for health and well-being. This natural spectacle can be reached from the centre of Partschins village in a one-and-a-half-hour hike or by public bus. The new Alpine waterfall hiking route is an adventurous loop filled with breathtaking viewpoints, pleasant seating areas and offers a glimpse of the waterfalls beyond.
