Castle and cultural walk with view

The lovely castle promenade behind the parish church in Dorf Tirol leads to Tirol Castle. This impressive castle served as a residence to the Counts of Tyrol and the birthplace of the County of Tyrol.

A visit to the castle will take you back to the distant past, when the Counts of Tyrol were the lords of this region. In the outer bailey, you can revel in an exceptional view of the Adige Valley. On we continue to our destination: St. Peter with its cultural sites that are also definitely worth a visit. The parish church there, which according to legend was built by a tribe of dwarves, is particularly worth a mention. A short detour along the beautiful hiking trail towards Velloi is also well worth the effort and highly recommended. Enjoy this relaxing hike through the vineyards with magnificent views of Meran and the Venosta Valley. Leisurely refreshment stations invite you to pause for a moment. The family-friendly circular hike finally leads back past Tirol Castle and concludes in Dorf Tirol.

the INFO: The historic parish church of St. Peter houses valuable Romanesque frescoes and paintings from pre-Gothic periods.
