Bolzano winery - tradition reinterpreted

There are similarities between Hotel Saltus and Bolzano Winery. Both stand for the tried and tested and the newly created. They both experienced an architectural transformation at around the same time, where modern design and ecological impact play a major role.

South Tyrolean Architecture

The gleaming cube of Bolzano Winery is visible from afar in the dark. These new premises in the Gries district were completed in autumn 2018. Architects Dell'Agnolo and Kelderer positioned this modern building directly on the slopes of the Bolzano grapevines. The principles of functionality and ecological sustainability have been most innovatively combined in this low-energy building. Bronze-coloured, perforated sheet aluminium envelops the façade of the building wing, interwoven with branching lines stylising a vine leaf.

The architecture and design unequivocally manifest what this place is all about: wine in all its fascinating diversity. The symmetrical complex containing administration and sales areas covers 20,000 square metres and houses state-of-the-art production facilities, most of which are underground. At the entrance to the winery is Vinarius - the wine shop, where all of Bolzano's premium wines can be tasted.
