The sustainable Vinum Hotel atop the splendid Renon Plateau
The Renon/Ritten Plateau, located above Bolzano in the heart of South Tyrol, is graced with plenty of sunshine, placid meadows and rolling hills. Separated from the province capital by a mere 15-minute ride on a modern cable car, Renon offers fascinating natural spectacles such as the well-known Earth Pyramids.
The Geyrerhof Hotel boasts a 360° vista of the romantic world of the South Tyrolean mountains. The Ramoser family has expanded their 17-century farm into an idyllic mountain hotel, which exists in perfect harmony: its traditional specialties include Speck ham, produced naturally on the farm itself, as well as bread fresh from the oven, jams, juices, syrup, wine vinegars and of course a wide array of wines.
The Ramosers support the Vinea Tirolensis Ars wine association, which has caused a stir in viticulture for its experiments with robust Pivi wines at high altitudes, without pesticides and emissions, in collaboration with South Tyrol's Laimburg Research Centre. The Ramosers are farmers and hoteliers, living here in keeping with a simple approach to tourism and agriculture, which is based principally on sustainability. The Geyrerhof is an optimal starting point for hikes into unspoiled nature. The hotel is also much appreciated by gourmets, who love to stop off here for authentic South Tyrolean cuisine and international fare.
