Schloss Hotel Korb in Missian and Palazzo Campofranco in Bolzano have one thing in common: both buildings exude architectural uniqueness and tell of a past steeped in history. These ancient walls could probably tell us a great deal about what they have seen.
South Tyrolean Architecture
Palazzo Campofranco, located in the heart of the provincial capital of Bolzano and was once the residence of Archduke Rainer, Vice-King of Lombardy-Venetia. In 1872, it passed to his granddaughter, Maria Raineria, Princess of Campofranco, and later to her daughter, Renata, Countess of Kuenburg. Palazzo Campofranco is still owned by the Kuenburg family. A Gingko biloba stands in the famous courtyard of this historic ensemble - a gift made from Empress Sissi to her uncle, Archduke Heinrich, as a token of goodwill.
The Ginkgo tree symbolises love, friendship, steadfastness, hope and peace. This natural monument was chosen Tree of the Millennium in 2000.
After four years of restoration work, Palazzo Campofranco reopened in September 2021. It combines good design and quality with classic and modern and an eye for detail, such as the Murano chandelier in the entrance area, made by the famous Signoretti glassworks. A place to while away the time, with shops, restaurants and many other attractions.
TIP: VISIT THE RESTAURANT ON THE 1st FLOOR, PROBABLY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TERRACE IN BOLZANO.
