Hiking in South Tyrol
A gentle path takes you from Schenna to the historic centre of Merano in just an hour. As you walk, you pass kilometre after kilometre of apple orchards and vineyards. This beautiful path is especially magical in April and May, when the apple blossom creates a stunning display of colours for the eyes and senses. The route takes you past Oberhaslerhof Farm via Tschoigassl before finally reaching Planta Castle in the elegant residential district of Obermais in Meran. Follow the sunny promenade along the northern bank of the Passer towards Merano. Right at the start of the promenade is the Wandelhalle, an Art Nouveau building which has hosted sports, leisure and cultural events since 1889. Tip: The café by the Wandelhalle has a nostalgic veranda where you can sit and enjoy a South Tyrolean aperitif. Even Empress Sissi loved this romantic spot.
THE WALK: From Schenna to Meran > approx. 60 minutes
THE KNOWLEDGE: The best-known and most popular themed trail in Meran is the ‘Sissi Trail’, dedicated to Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Spanning eleven stages, it takes you from the town centre to the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle.

Against the unique backdrop of Schenna Castle at dusk, embark on a journey through the historic building's 700-year history, accompanied by a fine wine tasting experience. Local winemakers will present their wines in the romantic castle courtyard. Afterwards, you can explore one of South Tyrol's most interesting castles with a proficient guide.
