International comfort & South Tyrolean hospitality
Staying in a well-known wine region and getting to know an ancient cultural landscape – that is what makes the South Tyrol Vinum Hotels so unique and exciting.
SomVita Suites - the name says it all - four symbolic diamonds aesthetically sum up the hotel's refreshed approach - SomVino, SomView, SomVital, SomVibes.
Somvita Suites stands for modern, dynamic and regional - this recently renovated hotel beams at the entrance to South Tyrol's historic stronghold of Dorf Tirol inviting you to take a relaxing break in an exclusive atmosphere. Elegant architecture with refined accents from the surrounding nature have been planned and realised down to the smallest detail. 30 new suites in soft, natural colours, created by local craftsmen, now want to present themselves to guests.
SomVino - the up-and-coming restaurant and new hotspot for all those for whom culinary pleasure is not a minor matter. Dennis, the head chef, prepares South Tyrolean and Mediterranean dishes, for which he has already won several prizes. SomVino's centrepiece are two wine cabinets in the middle of the room, one for white and one for red, perfectly temperature-regulated and clearly arranged.
SomView - the breathtaking view over mountain peaks and forests, apple orchards and vineyards makes these modern suites glow with special splendour. Right at the very top, on the roof terrace, the unique 360-degree panorama may even make your heart skip a beat.
SomVital - Two spa zones, a large pool, three saunas, two relaxation rooms, an infinity pool and a roof-top sky bar provide the perfect balance for body, mind and soul. In addition, a healthy breakfast to brighten up your day with homemade treats, preserves and freshly cooked dishes are all prepared with love and available at the buffet.
Somvibes - it’s not happening without a feel-good factor . This is guaranteed by the welcoming atmosphere of the hotel, its friendly hosts and weekly live music evenings, where locals and guests enjoy meeting up for a chat.

When old gives way to new
Yes, good things do happen from time to time. Years of experience applied to bold new beginnings, blending tradition with modernity and composure with a sense of optimism. The Somvits have done it, and the end result is something to be proud of.
Grandpa and Grandma opened the business in the early 1960s as a small room rental with four units, offering accommodation to travellers. Their successors Josef and Annemarie turned it into a 3-star B&B and were serving their guests a hearty breakfast even back then. Their son Alexander is the new shooting star in their home. Eight years ago, he took over the running of the business and turned the entire concept on its head. He likes things to be new, modern, exciting and culinarily top-notch for his guests. By redeveloping the hotel, he has achieved this and taken it to a new level. Elegant suites with breakfast and gourmet à la carte dining, garnished with beautiful views, inviting spa areas with pools and saunas and a feel-good factor throughout the hotel.
SomVita Suites is a place where locals and guests meet, chat and sometimes also round off the evening with a nightcap at the bar. Or they raise a glass of a South Tyrolean Sauvignon with Alexander, this being his favourite wine, high up on the Sky Terrace - all of this happens at Somvita Suites, and is indeed what makes this place so special.

Wine gourmet with its own mountain winery
The modern-day Romantik Hotel Oberwirt was first documented in 1496, as a Marling tavern. In 1748 the Waldner family took over the former inn, together with its associated agriculture (livestock breeding, farming, fruit-growing and viticulture); for 11 generations now, the Waldner family has been growing and making wine. With the purchase and construction of the Eichenstein Winery on Mount Freiberg above Meran, a new milestone has been set and the family winemaking expanded. The Waldner wines are now being developed and stored in the newly built wine cellar at Eichenstein. The winery's enoteca, Vinarium, offers tastings of fine wines such as Pinot blanc, Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Merlot/Cabernet.
Sepp Waldner expanded the tradition-steeped inn with meticulous attention to every detail, and has now created a unique 4-star-superior Romantik Hotel, which not only offers every comfort but has also retained its originality. The hotelier, who is extremely enthusiastic about wine, has maintained the quaint atmosphere of the hotel, reconciling it with modern creature comforts.
The cuisine of the Oberwirt ranks among the most renowned in South Tyrol. Our experienced kitchen team creates culinary highlights of the new South Tyrolean cuisine that delight every gourmet. A carefully curated selection of fine wines from South Tyrol and other regions of Italy completes the award-winning wine list. Anyone who would like to explore the idyllic vineyard sites of Merano's Freiberg first-hand can experience the luxury of living in the vineyard: Romantics will love the vineyard chalet at Eichenstein, which leaves nothing to be desired, including complete tranquility, sunshine, fresh air and breathtaking views of the Meran Valley Basin and surrounding mountains.

Gourmet hotel in Feldthurns
Wine-tasting hotel with splendid vistas
For a long time now, the up-and-coming Eisacktal Valley has been causing a sensation as a white-wine valley within the landscape of Alto Adige (South Tyrol) wines. Situated on a sunny panoramic terrace, this spa hotel is owned by the Dorfmann family and offers personally escorted wine tours as well as cuisine that leaves nary a gourmet’s palate wanting.
Feldthurns, which has three organic wineries, offers hikers extended hikes that run past vineyards, hay meadows and chestnut groves. The medieval town of Klausen, which Albrecht Dürer painted, is also within easy walking distance. On the terrace of the Feldthurnerhof, you can even see the bizarre rock formations of the Dolomite beckoning in the distance.

Wellness, wine and walking – with prospects
The scenic village of Feldthurns has a long history of wine, and lies along a placid, very sunny mid-altitude mountain road. The Feldthurnerhof Vinum Hotel, run by the Dorfmann family, affords spectacular views across the jagged peaks of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. The six wineries located in and around Feldthurns have contributed strongly to the wonderful Eisacktal Valley wines, whose international reputation has been taking flight. For this gourmet-focused hotel, the Dorfmann family has compiled a fabulous wine list with more than 180 labels – with a special focus on Eisacktal wines, especially the whites.
The sommelier of the house has a special touch when it comes to pairing wines with the hotel's specialty menus, which are built upon fine regional and Mediterranean cuisine. A committed member of the Eisacktaler Genuss-Gasthäuser association, the Feldthurnerhof Vinum Hotel participates in all of the specialty weeks, based on local, seasonal ingredients sourced from the Isarco/Eisacktal Valley: local Eisacktal specialties in March, asparagus and health-conscious dishes in May and South Tyrol's seasonal chestnut recipes in October and November.
Weekly tours of wineries or winegrowers offer guests in-depth, in-person dialogue about the history and secrets of South Tyrolean viticulture. In autumn, young wine and ripe chestnuts take center stage: in Eisacktal the traditional Törggelen takes the form of a hearty Brettljause snack board, served with the season's new wine and, of course, the heavenly fragrance of roasted chestnuts. The Feldthurnerhof offers guests a relaxing hike – the customary way of traveling to a Törggelen party: after working up an appetite, the wine cellar is waiting. The excursion is capped off by a nice long chat in the cozy and rustic atmosphere of a traditional Stube parlor.

Gourmet hotel for individualists
A wine-tasting hotel with new suites and bold colors
This small, welcoming design hotel has focused on hospitality since 1952. In collaboration with architect Stephan Marx, forty new suites were built as well as a casual, colorful bar and clay enoteca with an impressive 402 labels.
Here tradition and modernity have been boldly fused. The coffee served on the terrace at breakfast is roasted in-house and filtered by hand. The cozy restaurant, with a large glass front, serves food in a casual atmosphere. The spa area, which has a 21-meter indoor/outdoor pool, will please even the most discriminating guests.

Refreshingly casual and unaffectedly designed
The family tradition goes back to 1952, when Johann Ganthaler built the Muchele Vinum Hotel; his grandchildren are now keeping that tradition alive in the third generation. The Muchele was radically restructured in 2015, together with South Tyrolean architect Stephan Marx, with boldly modern design and a strong feeling for the Heimat, the homeland. The Muchele is a very special hotel. The family runs it with a lot of heart, and it’s ideally situated just five kilometers outside of spa resort of Merano. It is a charming place with only 40 rooms and suites, all recently redesigned.
The painstaking design features locally sourced materials such as porphyry and chestnut wood, as well as ornate, symbolic iron latticework. This little place is ideal for anyone who loves visiting South Tyrol. The hotel bar is a large living space in the open air. Wine is a among the hotelier family’s greatest passions. As a result, the boss’s “office” is the new brick-earth enoteca, which proudly carries 402 labels. Whether in the rustic, 150-year-old Stube parlor from Val Venosta/Vinschgau, relaxing on the cool Moroso garden furniture or dining at the completely glassed-in restaurant, wine takes center stage at the Muchele – and the celebrating of it enhances the casual, buoyant atmosphere.
The Ganthaler family and its loyal employees take enough time to advise every guest personally. The head of the family, Hansjörg, loves leading wine tastings: they are always very rewarding and usually end up being quite entertaining. Guests at the Muchele constantly come into contact with the world of wine. Activities offered include wine walks from the hotel with the host family or a visit to the vineyards of the neighboring winery, Moarhof; another option for wine enthusiasts is a visit to the innovative Ansitz Eichenstein Winery (Marlengo/Marling), including tour and tasting. At the hotel’s casual, colorfully decorated bar there are always at least ten white and red wines open. In addition to wine and genuine South Tyrolean cuisine made with quality products, the Ganthaler family loves coffee. In fact, a family member has operated South Tyrol’s smallest coffee roastery in Vinschgau for the last three years, with a lot of passion and commitment. Quality beans are manually refined here, using traditional drum roasting.
One of the wine highlights is the Architecture Wine Days (Architektur-Weintage), which take place twice a year. Another major event is the International WineFestival, which brings countless wine producers selected from all over the world to Merano every year, on the second weekend in November.

A wonderful wine holiday
The wine village of Villanders, known for its authentic rustic inns and wine taverns, is situated on one of the Eisacktal Valley's warmest sun terraces. The location of the StephansHof Vinum Hotels – high above the valley – offers a privileged view of the Eisacktal vineyards, the rugged peaks of the Dolomites and Kloster Säben Abbey, together with its vineyards. Excellent white wines thrive here, and wine is the heart and soul of the StephansHof. Every day, the StephansHof menu features many traditional South Tyrolean dishes; of course, dishes with Eisacktal white wines are an absolute must.
The hotel's extensive wine list, focusing mainly on the Eisacktal Valley, brings the most important wine-growing regions together. Junior chef and sommelier Matthias Egger leads guests through weekly tastings of Alto Adige wines, in combination with cheese specialties. Another highlight is to participate in a wonderful hike to the Villanderer Alm, ending with a wine tasting at an Alpine cheese dairy. Autumn brings out best of the Eisacktal Valley, the home of the Törggelentradition. This ancient custom is alive and well – and at its most authentic – at the Stephanshof: group hikes through colorful chestnut groves lead to old farms and wineries, where participants enjoy a classic Törggele meal in addition to a tour of the cellars and winery. The StephansHof also pampers its guests at its Vinalpinum Spa, with products from the Vinoble grape-seed line.

An oasis for gourmets and wine enthusiasts surrounded by beautiful nature
Preidlhof originated from a small orchard and vineyard, where wine-growing has been a tradition for centuries. Even today the hotel is nestled amidst orchards and vineyards. The Ladurner family has continued this wine-growing tradition for a long time. Our Pinot Noir is cultivated on the dry Vinschgau Sonnenberg and is excellent accompanied not only by our home-smoked Speck from Platthof in Schnalstal, but also our fine distillates from the in-house distillery and herbs from our herb garden. Grappas and fruit brandies using fruit from our orchards are also produced in our distillery.

Design, Art, Gourmet, Wine and Spa in a Romantic Hotel
Directly at the foot of the Sciliar/Schlern Massif, in the World Heritage Dolomites, lies the Romantik Hotel Turm. Modern design has been implemented within these ancient walls, with a strong sense of discernment, seen especially in the luxurious suites. Turm guests looking for traditionally romantic dining will prefer the medieval Tyrolean Stuben parlors. There are also bright dining rooms in the modern style, which have large windows that offer views of the imposing Sciliar Massif.
The Pramstrahler family is extremely art-minded: works by Kokoschka, Klimt and Picasso hang in the traditional structure, which dates from the thirteenth century. Hotelier and gourmet chef Stefan Pramstrahler is known for his creative approach and his new take on traditional South Tyrolean cuisine. A driving force behind a cultural and culinary gourmet festival called Völser Kuchlkastl, preserving and refining Schlutzkrapfen ravioli, Knödel dumplings of all kinds, roast venison, fenugreek flour snacks, and other traditional regional specialties has always been important to him.
At Grottnerhof, the thirteen-century family estate where wine is grown and two stylish suites are located, Stefan Pramstrahler has made his wine dream come true: on steeply sloping vineyards, white wines thrive here, named after characterful birds, including the Pica Pinot blanc, the Bubo Sauvignon, the Tetrix Gewürztraminer, and the Corax Pinot noir. These are very elegant – even boldly idiosyncratic – fine wines that make special moments during the holiday even more special. Katharina Pramstrahler is qualified sommelier, so even the most demanding wine lovers will be in good hands. In 2014, the Pramstrahler’s passion for wine paid off when they won the Südtirol – Preis für Weinkultur 2014 (2014 South Tyrol Award for Wine Culture).

He loves the kitchen, she the village square
Mara and Marc are the sixth generation to welcome their guests to Weisses Kreuz. Mara, the daughter, has learned the trade from scratch and hospitality is literally in her blood.
Her love of wine which Mara inherited from her father Thomas is also an integral part of her life and she enthusiastically continues to live this passion. A wine cellar that has been constantly expanded and enriched over the years now showcases fine local and international wines of every vintage and maturity. Mara is also a sommelier and constantly on a voyage of discovery to find new, fine and, above all, special wines. Not only for herself, but also for her guests, because shared pleasure is known to be double pleasure.
Marc is in no way less talented in the kitchen. Homemade petit fours, appetisers, miso pastes, soy sauces are his greatest passion. When the chef talks about the kitchen, his favourite place, many a listener are sent into raptures. Or at least culinary anticipation. A good mix of the best products from all over the world, combined with regional dishes and garnished with South Tyrolean down-to-earthness - that's what Marc spends hours doing in the kitchen every day. Home-bred Wagyu cattle for the best steaks, his own pigs for genuine South Tyrolean Speck, but also international classics like caviar or foie gras, Marc knows what his guests love and manages to impress them with his experience and creativity.

A colourful family not all Made In South Tyrol.
More than 40 years ago, senior hosts Arthur and Cilly Pobitzer realised their dream by opening a hiking hotel. Today, their son Klaus and his wife Yanelys, successfully maintain the running of the hotel. Grandfather Josef would probably be amazed to see the many changes that have been made from Hofanger, then a meadow to this four-star-superior establishment. Family is of utmost importance at Garberhof giving the hotel a special charm through its colourful diversity. Val Venosta tradition meets the Cuban joy of life, that's how you could describe the atmosphere at this hotel. Yanelys, a trained IT specialist with Cuban roots, and their three boys Felix Luis, Felipe and Francisco bring music, colour and happiness to Garberhof. And Grandma Cilly, the good-hearted soul of the house along with Grandpa Arthur still provide strong reliable support.
The head of the house is the all-rounder lending a hand everywhere. As a trained chef he has always appreciated good food and wine and has always been fascinated by new creations,. And so it happens that he's either practising being a winegrower with Hilde Van den Dries the vintner from Calvenschlössl in the newly planted vineyard, throwing himself into the world of mixology by mixing compelling cocktails alongside Raphael the bartender, daringly creating new recipes using the hotel’s own gin together with flavours like the Val Venosta apricot with Alessandro Secci the master distiller, or simply standing at the wine buffet and tasting excellent South Tyrolean wines with guests. Delectable highlights are always the order of the day at Garberhof.
