Taubers Unterwirt
Velturno/Feldthurns is a village that is cozy and easy to explore, located in the idyllic low mountains of the Val Isarco/Eisacktal Valley. In this archetypal village known for chestnuts, hiking and wine, social gatherings are an important part of tradition and visitors can easily recharge their batteries, immersed in pristine nature. The Tauber family has run the Taubers Unterwirt for five generations.

The hotel’s refined, light cuisine has been imaginatively inspired by South Tyrolean tradition and gourmet Italian classics, and locally sourced ingredients play a central role. Wine and cuisine, in fact, have always taken center stage at the Taubers Unterwirt. Among the culinary highlights of the Taubers Unterwirt Vinum Hotel are the chestnut festival (Eisacktaler Kastanienwochen), the valley’s traditional gourmet festival (Eisacktaler Kost) and of course a number of wine events.

The hotel’s senior chef, Franz Tauber, is not only a certified sommelier, but has always been a receptive hotelier, open-minded to the pioneers and supporters of the Eisacktal wine culture. His son Helmut is also a sommelier, following in his footsteps. Together they maintain a high-quality wine list and a beautiful wine cellar. Helmut Tauber, in fact, is the co-founder of the eisacktalWein initiative, an intelligent platform that aims at strengthening Eisacktal whites into unequivocal ambassadors for quality in the valley. For many years, the Tauber family has brought guests to visit the winegrowers of the award-winning Feldthurner, where they enjoy wine tastings and vineyard tours. Of course, the theme of wine also has its place in the spa, whether you choose the wine-and-chestnut bath or the chestnut-pomace peel.
