If your heart pounds for good wine, then all roads lead to Schenna. In this South Tyrolean village near Merano, Doris and Christian Kohlgruber, two passionate sommeliers and their great love of fine wines have created a unique, comfortable design hotel for wine connoisseurs.
 
 
In Meran and the surrounding area, the term "wine measurer" is still in use today at several farms; the so-called “Weinmesserhöfe”. All of these farms in the Meran area have taken their names from the former calibrating master, known in South Tyrol as the "Weinmesser". The aforementioned calibrating master was appointed by the authorities and sworn in as an official, who then had to undertake the "measuring" of the barrels.

Hotel Der Weinmesser offers an authentic wine experience. Tastings, cellar tours, wine seminars, special wine events out in the nature and last but not least a selection of over 700 wines to experience.

From April 2019, Der Weinmesser will be even more attractive and even more comfortable. There are 16 new rooms & suites furnished with natural wood floors, air conditioning and free underground parking spaces allocated to each room. The sunbathing lawn with chic pergolas for uninterrupted relaxation under the sun, the pool bar for a cooling drink in between, the outdoor forest sauna surrounded by lush greenery and the terrace to enjoy delicacies from the kitchen and cellar are among some of the highlights. New additions include a seminar room, the panorama restaurant and a fine smoking lounge.

The new philosophy PASSION FOR WINE & NATURE should give you the possibility and the freedom to experience beautiful South Tyrolean nature in a way that is even more enjoyable and free of time constraints.

During your stay we will spoil you with our new interpretation of half-board "My Way". This includes breakfast and a choice of three gourmet menus in the evening. Which one are you: a health-conscious eater, a connoisseur or a fan of South Tyrolean cuisine? Choose daily between a calorie-reduced vitality menu, a gourmet menu and a down-to-earth South Tyrolean menu with regional products.
