Exquisite wine-tasting hotel in South Tyrol’s Pinot Noir area
History-steeped ambience with daily wine tasting
The name of this historical inn derives from an elephant named Soliman: having been sent as a gift by the Portuguese king to Emperor Maximilian, the animal's journey was broken here in 1551. Well maintained and stylishly furnished, the beautifully renovated wine hotel reflects the grand tradition of a vintage inn.
Located in the heartland of South Tyrol’s Pinot Noir cultivation, our hotel features an impressive wine cellar done completely in stone block and dating from the fifteenth century. The natural oasis around Lake Kaltern is absolutely ideal for a feel-good holiday, as is the intimacy of the hotel. Our daily wine tastings are a great opportunity to learn all about the traditional wine village of Auer.
