Wine-Growing Regions
Where the fiery South meets the cool North
Due to South Tyrol's mild continental climate, wine-growing is possible from the valley floor all the way to 1,000 meters. Benefitting from its several microclimate zones and varying soils, South Tyrol has a unique range of varieties. Merlot, Cabernet, Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Pinot blanc, Sauvignon, Pinot gris, Grüner Veltliner, Kerner and Riesling grow here, in
addition to the indigenous Vernatsch, Lagrein and Gewürztraminer. International varieties with a South Tyrolean character: fiery, Mediterranean, fresh, elegant, fruity and long-lasting.
