Wonderful stay – good food – wine experiences & more!

Hotel Goldener Adler

The Goldener Adler gourmet hotel, owned by a successful hotelier family called Mayr, is one of South Tyrol's oldest wine hotels. For more than 500 years, South Tyrolean hospitality and culinary enjoyment have formed part of the tradition of this historical hotel. Emperor Maximilian I, Charles V, the French philosopher Montaigne, and countless counts, princes
and famous individuals have sojourned at the Adler in Bressanone/Brixen. With a scrupulous approach and excellent taste, these ancient walls have now been transformed into a cozy gem with all the modern comforts.

The hotel's VIP density still remains high today because the hotel offers a top-flight wine and culinary triad: the first being the hotel itself, secondly the gourmet restaurant Finsterwirt and third, the Mayr family's stylish wine shop, Vitis, which grew out of the former Kapitelschenke tavern.

The oldest traces of wine cultivation in South Tyrol were discovered in Bressanone, the former bishop's see: here, grape seeds were found that date from the Iron Age, confirming a wine tradition that dates back 3,000 years. It's no wonder then that the Goldene Adler feels so committed to exemplary maintenance of the local wine culture. A wine tasting at the
Goldener Adler and indulging at the Mayr family's gourmet meccas, Finsterwirt and Vitis, will certainly be holiday highlights. Almost all of the big names in the Alto Adige and international wine worlds are represented on the extensive wine list. Salute! To excellent health!
